Let’s Move On Peacefully ?

Sometimes we can let ourselves get carried away into something we’re not. Sure at the time that’s what our ego tells us, but is that what we really want for ourselves? I’m 100% willing to not forget the past for that’s what made me the person I am today but to see from it, take those lessons learned and move forward making an effort to bring along those who I’ve troubled. In hope that with a good heart deep down inside they too can be willing to again not forget but to better themselves with the help of each other.

Let’s make something out of this journey we call life and overcome these obstacles, lets learn the meaning of forgiveness. “Hate” belongs in hell not our hearts. Surrender that little Demon we all have in us, surrender that heavy burden we carry. So when that day comes again of hate and trouble we won’t hesitate for a second on how to brush it off. Take my hand in hope and have faith in my heart. Growing up, this is what its doing to me. Opening up my heart, even to those in the dark part of my past. Let yourself be free forgive and fly with me <3

Sex And The City

This movie motivated me to open this up and write.

Carrie Bradshaw (Sarah Jessica Parker)

Carrie Bradshaw (Sarah Jessica Parker) after 10 years of being with the same guy and finally getting married then ditched on her wedding day. I could not imagine how she found the strength to forgive and fall right back into his arms for the millionth time.

Samantha Jones (Kim Cattrall)

Samantha Jones (Kim Cattrall) has such a strong personality.  No one could tell her what to do. No one man could ever strap her down and yet there she was strapped down to one man. This girl was a sex addict.  It is not like her to sit home and cater to that one man.

She was living her fear of sex only 3 times a week even though she found herself again and ended that relationship.  She never thought a day of her life that would ever happen like that.  Why did she let herself go there in the first place?  Was there really any thought in her mind of actually settling down?

Charlotte York (Kristin Davis)

Charlotte York (Kristin Davis) was the one looked at as the girl that had it all, the perfect man perfect, marriage perfect life. She was the one to sit back and watch her friends go through all that they had been through, supporting them and helping them with open arms of course. However, she had problems bigger than the rest of them.

I believe that not being able to have children and when you’re finally pregnant after all those times trying, loosing that baby that must be the biggest heart break of them all.  After all this time, she finally has two beautiful little girls one adopted and one of her own. Is it true, what she says things come to you when you stop looking?

Miranda Hobbes (Cynthia Nixon)

Miranda Hobbes (Cynthia Nixon), the first with marriage and a kid. I would call her situation the best if she had not been so caught up with her busy work life to even realize that her “good guy” husband of her dreams was suffering. She received all the love in the world but lacked at giving it. She brought that work-stress home and kept it there.

The wrong place to be since it could ruin everything she ever had. And that it did reality slapped her face hard through the lips of her husband when he told her he had cheated on her and it was eating him up inside. Yes, of course that is wrong but whose fault was it really? In life, we succeed and we fail even as friends but as friends, we stop at nothing to do the best we can to make things better.

These girls face and handle life differently with the help of the one thing they all have in common the love they each have for each other – Friendship.

Android vs. iPhone

Android
Android

The topic that has been chosen for my research paper is Android vs

iPhone
iPhone

. iPhone. I have chosen this topic because I believe that the Android phones have more features, better abilities, and better new versions than an iPhone would have. In this paper, I will be comparing and contrasting what these phones have in common, and the difference between each of them. I will also be explaining: when it came out, what features they have in common, and what they have different. As well as, telling you what software the iPhone and Androids use as the main software. I will first start with the iPhone.

The first ever iPhone was released in June 28, 2007 by the Apple company. There are four types of iPhones that were released but they were released all at different dates. The four types of iPhones are:

  • iPhone
  • iPhone 3G
  • iPhone 3Gs
  • iPhone 4
  • Originally, AT&T was the only carrier to provide service to the iPhone but recently Verizon started providing service to the iPhones as well. All the iPhones only come in two colors, black and white. They all also use the same software, which is called iOS which is made from OS X . iPhone are made in United States and sold in more than 70 countries. Making the iPhones an international device.

The original iPhone, the first one to be released, was released June 29, 2007 and was originally launched in two sizes, 4GB and 8GB. Then they created a bigger size for the iPhone, which is a 16GB. The iPhone 3G was released in July 8, 2008, the iPhone 3G comes in 8GB and 16GB. Then came the iPhone 3GS, which comes in 16GB and 32GB. On that version of the iPhone, they improved the navigation making the navigation on-board, improving the performances and, the camera on the phone. Also, 3GS with iOS 4.2 is the first multitasking iPhone.

Lastly, the iPhone 4 come in one size 16GB. It allows you to multi task whenever you want, now improved the camera even more by recording videos, making the camera 5 mega-pixels, and improving more than just the camera on the iPhone 4. All the types of the iPhones are touch screen. They all have a touch flip keyboard to use for everything when using the iPhones. Also, the original iPhone is two years older than the Android, so that means the Android is the newest phone device compared to the iPhone.

The first Android to come out was February 9, 2009. There are more than five types of Androids so far, they all use the Linux Kernel software. The first five are called:

  • Android 1.1= February 9, 2009
  • Android 1.5(Cupcake)= April 30, 2009
  • Android 1.6(Donut)= September 15, 2009
  • Android 2.1(Eclair)= January 12, 2010
  • Android 2.2(Froyo)= May 20, 2010
  • So far, as of July in 2010 there are more than 75,000 applications in the the application market. The cell phone carriers that provide service to the Androids are Sprint, AT&T ,Verizon, and Metro PCS. Androids have many similarities and differences with the iPhone. All though, Androids have 5 major difference from iPhones. The differences are Androids have:

  • Open Source
  • Real Multi-Task
  • Runs Flash
  • Choice of Handset
  • Choice of Carrier
  • When they say “ Open Source”, they mean that the source codes are open to whoever, whenever. Real multi-tasking is when you can open and use multiple applications at the same time. While other phones have adopt flash, as in when you go to a flash site you can’t view the video or play the game, Androids already run Flash so you won’t have the problem of not being able to view a website, game , or video. You then can choice the handset that fits you, as in you can choose to have a QWERTY keyboard or a regular keyboard to text on. Androids also have a system called SWYPE which allows you to run your fingers to the letters and it types the word the phone thinks you are typing. Lastly, choosing your choice of carrier is fairly simply, choosing a carrier means you can choose what carrier is your favorite out of the options the Android has.

Finally, Androids also run softwares called Java and Dalvik. Dalvik is a virtual machine in Google’s Android Operating System which was also was named after a town in Iceland, and Java is a famous computer software that allows you to view games and business applications. Java first came out in 1995 by a computer company called Sun Microsystems. Androids are also register-based V. M. Which V.M stands for virtual machine.

In conclusion, I believe my statement was right. I still believe that an Android phone has more than an iPhone has so far. There are still Android’s coming out today. Most of the cell phone commercials I see on T.V are new Androids being released. The first Android out of the top ten list of best Androids is the Samsung Epic 4G. I believe that out of Android vs. iPhone, Androids should win!

Burmese Pythons Invasion of the Florida Everglades

The Florida Everglades is currently been invaded by a predator not native to this land. This South-East Asian predator is taking over the land by competing with the native animals for space and food.

These invaders are putting in danger all the endangered species in the Florida Everglades and in the process possibly bringing diseases with them (PBS, 2010).

Over the years many big animal warehouses had been hit hard by hurricanes (Scicchitano, 2010) and thanks to that the Burmese Python population they had in captivity escaped. Also starting as pets, the Burmese pythons have been release into the wild by their owners, who do not know what to do with them after these pets got too big to handle (In Brief., 2009). These owners are either scare due to the size of these snakes or cannot afford the bill to feed them. And in some cases, these snakes have brought tragedy to their owners by killing a family member (CBS, 2009).

After the Burmese pythons get release into the wild, they have started to breed and since they have no natural predators their population has been exponentially increasing corroding the natural habitat that exists in the Florida Everglades. The Florida Everglades, currently two and a half square miles of animal reserve, host about 36 species that are protected by the federal government who are also put in danger of extinction due to the problem (PBS, 2010).

This issue usually starts when a person goes to an exotic pet shop and buys a Burmese Python snake, usually as long as 20 inches long (PBS, 2010).  Once these people get them in their homes these predators start growing and require bigger portions of food.

In only a few years, these pythons could reach a size between 11 to 12 feet long, weighing about 200 pounds (PBS, 2010). It reaches a point when these snakes become unmanageable for their owners and they have no other choice but to set them free. Also, the collections of this predators that big animal warehouse have collected over the years have scape because these warehouses got hit hard by hurricanes (PBS, 2010).

These predators then end up in the Florida Everglades were the environment is really close to their native home of South East Asia. Been that this is the ideal environment, they reproduce and since they have no natural predators, their numbers grow exponentially.

Currently, there may be tens of thousands of Burmese Pythons roaming in the Florida Everglades (PBS, 2010). The Burmese Pythons then eat the local wildlife like other snakes, frogs, pigs, deer, and alligators among others (CBS, 2009). This is a serious problem because these predators put in danger all 36 endanger species that currently live in the Florida Everglades (PBS, 2010).

The living and non-living factors that contribute to the Burmese Pythons been in the Florida Everglades as well as who is affected by these predators comes from various sources.

The living contributing factor that plays an important role in this problem is the sales and distribution of Burmese Pythons. About 12,000 shipments of wildlife arrive in Miami every year. Among these shipments, in the last four years we have received 140,000 pythons (PBS, 2010). These predators get sold to people that in a few years are unable to take care of these animals.

Because they get too big, too expensive to feed, or get too dangerous to have, they get release into the wild. Also the big warehouses that hold these shipments of animals thanks to the frequent hurricanes in Florida they get destroy (PBS, 2010). Since these building are destroy, all these animals scape free into the wild.

Upon looking at the non-living contributing factors we find that the Florida Everglades itself plays a major role. The two and a half square miles of animal preserve is a prefect haven for the Burmese Python.

Since the Florida Everglades has the same characteristics and climate as the South-East Asian native habitat of these predators, this habitat becomes a real Club Met for the Burmese Python (PBS, 2010). The natural wetlands of the Florida Everglades become a great way of travel since the Burmese Python can swim about six miles without stopping (PBS, 2010).

And since the Burmese Python does not have any natural predator in the Florida Everglades, they have a wide open menu to all the animal species they can eat. So as you can see they have an ample supply of food, the perfect home, climate, and environment to live.

As you can see the Florida Everglades has a big problem that primarily affects the 36 species that are federally protected. The endangered species, prior to the invasion of the Burmese Python, were enjoying the protection of the Florida Everglades (PBS, 2010). Now all of these endangered species are in danger of extinction by the increase population of these predators.

Eventually we all will be affected because the natural balance of the Florida Everglades thwarted. Every animal plays an important part in the big circle of life and if we lose all these animals to the invasion of the Burmese Pythons then we are looking serious environmental implications.

As you can clearly see there is no positive human impact to this problem. This issue negatively impacts humans because these predators are a corrosive factor that could eventually kill each of the 36 endangered species currently living in the Florida Everglades.

Since their numbers keep increasing there will be more cases where these predators will come into the suburbs and possibly cause not only traffic accidents but there could be an increase in animal related attacks.

A solution needs to be reach to control the overpopulation of the Burmese Python in the Florida Everglades. The strategy implemented needs to be sustainable so we can continue controlling the overpopulation of these predators.

I believe that at this point it will be impossible to completely eradicate these snakes from the Florida Everglades but if we are able to control their numbers then our battle is won. In order to accomplish this, a couple of programs need to be put in place and well as tougher laws.

The plan that I propose to handle this issue in a sustainable way requires the support of everyone. Here are the steps required to resolve the problem of the Burmese Python invading the Florida Everglades.

    Action Items

    (in correct order)

    Action Steps Timeline
Create and enforce tougher law for animal warehouses. Petition law makers of the importance for the animal warehouse to protect their buildings and make them accountable if something happens. Bring signed petition. Creating of a law is imperative. 1 – 12 Months
Grant Burmese Python hunting license. Petition the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission to give unlimited amounts of hunting licenses to help kill as many Burmese Pythons as possible (The Associated Press, 2009). 1 – 3 Months
Create an organization that will explorer the Everglades killing all Burmese Pythons found. Petition for the creating of a government organization under the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission that will periodically search and kill these predators. 1 – 12 Months
Ban Burmese Pythons sales without a license. Petition the US government to prohibit sales of these predators without a license. 1 – 12 Months
Create a law that requires a license in order to have a Burmese Python. Petition the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission to require an owner’s license to own a Burmese Python. 1 – 6 Months
Require a Burmese Python class in order to obtain a Burmese Python license. Petition the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission to require a Burmese Python class to obtain an owner’s license. 1 – 6 Months
Register all Burmese Pythons owned. Petition the US government to require registration of the Burmese Pythons for all license owners. 1 – 6 Months
Set drop-off locations for owners that cannot keep their Burmese Pythons. Petition local government to set drop-off locations for those owners that cannot keep their pet Burmese Python. 1 – 3 Months
Offer a bounty for every Burmese Python killed. Petition the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission to set a bounty for every Burmese Python killed. 1 – 2 Months
Create an international law that helps prevent the trafficking of Burmese Pythons. Petition the US government to create a law that protects us against the trafficking of Burmese Pythons. 1 – 12 Months

The challenges to my plans are not many. It involves hard work and dedication in order to obtain the petitions necessary to bring it to local law makers. Also the time required to locate and talk to all the necessary people that could pass laws. No counting the time necessary to make the issue publicly known. Also this plan requires funding in order to create all the programs necessary. Finally in the creating of the organization, it will require staff, which would be ideal if this staff could be federal staff.

The benefits of my plan will be the control of the population of Burmese Pythons in the Florida Everglades. This will bring the protection all each of the 36 endangered species currently living the Florida Everglades. The protection of the untouched natural beauty of the Florida Everglades, which all will collaborate to the resolution of this worldwide environmental issue.

The support require for my plan would mainly come from the implementation of laws and their enforcement by government agencies. I believe that without their support this plan would not work.

The global support is also important in helping control the trafficking of these animals to areas they do not belong. But finally the great support comes from society by educating ourselves about the issue so we can help in prevent the natural disaster that this problem could possibly cause.

As you can see from the paper, the Florida Everglades invasion of the Burmese Python is a serious environmental issue that needs to be handled immediately. Not handling this issue could bring serious environmental implications not only to locals but to the world.

    Energy Resource Plan

The human requirement for the consumption of energy will only increase because the human population keeps growing (Berg & Hager, 2007). Among others, this would be one of the reasons why the conservation of energy is extremely important in our environment.

Another reason why the conservation of energy is important is that this consumption of energy will also increase as many developing countries raise their standards of living (Berg & Hager, 2007).

If you look at the birth rate on this planet and the increasing numbers of developing countries raising their standard of living, it is not difficult to realize that it is only a matter of time before we could no longer have any energy to consume. Therefore, if you analyze all of these facts, you can easily see why it is so important for us to conserve energy.

Renewable energy is a better alternative to non-renewable energy. This is because non-renewable energy created from resources like coal, oil, natural gas, and nuclear energy (Berg & Hager, 2007) cannot be renewed once these resources are no longer available.

Once the resources are all depleted, then that type of creation of energy can no longer be used. So you can see that if we rely on only these types of resources, with the increase of demand it will only be a matter of time before we would no longer have any energy.

In the other hand, resources of renewable energy can be renewable. If you look at renewal energy created from fuel cells, solar cells, or solar heating, then you will see that the renewable resource is the sun. Another type of renewable energy is wind energy, which uses wind as a resource. Or geothermal energy that uses the earth interior for the generation of energy (Berg & Hager, 2007).

Look at all these types of renewable energy and you will see a constant. All of the resources used for the creation of the renewable energy mention will always be there. The sun, wind, and the earth interior will always be there for us.

As you can clearly see that energy conservation is paramount to our environment, so we need to implement methods to conserve energy while helping the environment. There are currently several methods to help in the conservation of energy.

When you choose any or all of the methods to conserve energy, not only are you helping the environment but, in many cases, help you financially. One thing you can do to start right away is to take inventory of all technologies contained within your home. Then look for more efficient technologies to replace these old technologies with.

For example looking at your water heater you can see the energy consumption. Then research another model that will use less energy. I believe that replacing all of the technologies within your home with more energy efficient technology; will significantly reduce not only your energy consumption but your energy bill as well.

Another thing you can do to is to equip your home with solar panels for electricity and solar heater for water heater from company like The Alt E Store (Alt E Store, 2010). This will be a big investment initially but it will pay off in the long run since you will be able to minimize or eliminate your electricity bill. Another thing you can do is to examine the insulation on your home and make sure that it is well-insulated and air tight. This will make your already efficient air cooling and heating system work efficiently. In some cases if the home is super insulated, it will not require a furnace during the cold season (Berg & Hager, 2007).

The United States Government has different incentives design to help promote energy conservation. These programs are design to reward those citizens who are doing their part in the nation-wide conservation of energy. The U.S. Government feels that if they give an incentive to promote energy conservation, then more and more people will adopt these technologies and in doing so help the current energy crisis.

The U.S. Department of Energy lists some of the technologies that could get you either a tax credit, which reduces your taxes dollar-per-dollar or a tax reduction, which reduces the percentage of the tax that it is owed (The United States Department of Energy, 2010).

Among many other programs listed on the U.S. Department of Energy website, one of the programs is the “Home Energy Efficiency Improvement Tax Credit”. The U.S. Department of Energy says that any consumer who purchase and install specific products like energy-efficient windows, insulation, doors, roofs, and heating and cooling equipment in existing homes can receive a tax credit for 30% of the cost (up to $1,500) for improvements placed in service starting January 1, 2009 through December 31, 2010 (The United States Department of Energy, 2010). There are many other tax credit programs that you can take advantage depending on the type of home improvement you are doing in your home. I recommend that you visit the government websites to learn more about the many opportunities available to you.

As you can see from all the information provided, it is extremely important for all of us to help in the energy conservation effort which helps our environment. Not only does it help you consume less energy but your energy bill will be reduced.

We also learn that there are many government incentive programs that you can take advantage tax credits. Energy conservation is paramount to all of us. It helps you use less energy, which in turn helps the environment.

The government helps you with some of the cost involved with the installation via tax breaks, and it helps you financial since your bill could be reduce. Help the environment by helping yourself.

Immigration of Dominicans to the US

An essay by Robert A Bernard Jr.

Dominicans are native to Dominican Republic located in the eastern part of the island known as Hispaniola, which is share with the country of Haiti. The island of Hispaniola is located in the center of the Caribbean, between the islands of Cuba and Puerto Rico.

This paper will provide a glimpse of the Dominican history as it pertains to their migration to the United States. This paper will explore some aspects of the Dominican Migration. In addition, it will offer an insight of the Dominican migration from its beginning, providing some of the types of discriminations that Dominican immigrants had experienced during the period.

Since I was born in the Dominican Republic, I hope to bring some insight to the document that will give it more accuracy been that in part comes from the personal experience of a Dominican immigrant.

The first wave of the Dominican Migration happened after the second military occupation of the United Stated of the Island of Dominican Republic in April 29 1965 (Operation Power Pack). Prior to this time the possibilities of leaving the island were very limited and required special permissions, making migration highly selective and restricted during this period.

After the 1965 United States invasion of the island, relations between the two countries where not in good terms; so only after relations changed between the two countries is when migration became unrestricted. Even though there has been a much-selected few who migrated to the United States in previous years, the 1960’s marks the beginning of the Main Dominican migration to the United States. After the opening of the Dominican economy in 1961 and its consequential high unemployment and political unrest, migration became an escape valve for the Dominican population.

Nearly 600,000 Dominicans settle in the New York area where they make up a seventh percent of the population. In neighborhoods such as Washington Height, one can conduct themselves in every part of their life as if they were in Dominican Republic.

Let put this in perspective! In the nineteen sixties, the United States was not so united. This is the sad period in the United State’s history when the civil right movement met resistance throughout the south. The nation’s attention during this period is turn away to the urban violence in the north and the west. Blacks responded by raising expectations advocating black power. In the middle of all this chaos, the migration of Dominicans begins.

Imagine been a Dominican arriving in the United States in the nineteen sixties and try to incorporate into society. Dominicans, even though of different skin tones, are mainly slightly darker skin and some Dominicans are completely darker skin. So this accounted for two things that worked against a Dominican in the sixties, been dark skin and a Hispanic.

One major stereotype that a Dominican faces is that everyone assumes that all Dominicans are black or dark skin. Thanks to this fact, Dominicans suffer from Double Jeopardy since some Dominicans appear as blacks and Hispanics because of their skin color. Due to this fact, Dominicans became members of two minority groups at the same time.

Dominicans are notorious for opening their own stores called bodegas or colmados. The activity of becoming a small business owner has helped the Dominican community to become more employment and financially independent where well-paid jobs are difficult to find, and a way to survive is in short supply.
According to the US Census conducted in the year 2000, the average annual income of a Dominican woman in the New York area was $11,371, while a Dominican man earns $15,139.

I have migrated to the United States during the biggest Dominican migration, in the nineteen eighties. According to the US census conducted in the year 2000, 65.9% of Dominicans arrived to the US prior to 1989 in contrast to the 37.5% who entered the US between 1990 and 2000.

I have been here from 1986 and have grown up with most of the American values. However, since I grew up here but also both of my Dominican parents raised me, then it is due to this that I am able to maintain my Dominican culture. I identify equally with the United States mainstream culture as well as my Dominican culture.

    Google Wave

Have you had a change to use Google Wave yet?

I have and I have to say it is amazing.

What is Google Wave you ask?

I could say to watch the video at Google Wave. If you ask me to put it on my own words, then I would have to say it’s an awesome online collaborator.
The more you play with Google Wave, the more you would envision the end of three technologies:

    • Email
    • Online chat
    • Networking sites.

Google Wave allows you to have all these technologies plus the Google API and its ability to create application. You have mega a online system in a fashion that only Google can provide.

Google wave is currently in its Alpha stage so your obstacles at this point are:

    • Google wave is open in an invite only.
    • Even though Google wave is running good, as with many Alpha stage systems it does not work good all the time.
    • Not many people are on the system yet so you find yourself only most of the time.

I have also preview the iPhone application version of Google Wave. I love the fact that the iPhone app is easy to navigate through but I was really disappointed on the time that it takes to open. Also I notice that most image links are broken.

As I sue Google wave I can immediately tell that its uses academic and professional uses will be invaluable. From been able to collaborate in a project between all your colleagues at work to hosting a study group for a university course, Google wave (in its full release form) would be a most use system.

I would have to say that even with all of this issue here listed, I just cannot wait for Google wave to come out as a full release.

    Electronic Readers

If you enjoy reading as much as I do, you might find beneficial to obtain an electronic reader device. Nowadays most book stores provide a big collection of books in electronic format. So an avid reader like me would find themselves with a huge amount of choices starting from what book format to read, what book store to buy it from, all the way to what device to purchase. Such choices could make you want to go back to paperback.

I recently decided to purchase an electronic device recently because the amount of books in my book case is getting out of hand. I find that if I could replace all my book titles to electronic format, I could fit it all in a single computer. Thus eliminating a whole wall in my house dedicated to books. But upon making this decision I found myself with all the questions that anyone of you have reached.

So I decided to do a little research and selected a couple of devices which I feel fit my needs the most. Within those devices selected I have chosen Amazon’s Kindle $259, Barnes & Noble’s nook $259 and Sony’s Reader Touch Edition PRS600 $299.

One of the first differences I found is that the only device that was not available now was the nook. Barnes & Nobles’ website says that if you pre-purchase it now, it will be ship on January 4th 2010. The Amazon’s Kindle is available to purchase from the Amazon’s website. And the Sony Reader Touch is available from most US stores.

These three devices all have 6 inch monitors even though their dimensions are slightly different. Sony Reader Touch is 6.9” x 4.5” x 0.4”. Barnes & Nobles’ nook is 7.7” x 4.9” x 0.5”. And Amazon’s Kindle is 8” x 5.3” x 0.36” making this the biggest device out of the three listed.

As far as weight, Sony Reader Touch and Amazon’s Kindle are very close. Amazon’s Kindle weights 10.2 ounces while Sony Reader Touch weights 10.1 ounces. Barnes & Nobles’ nook at 11.2 ounces was the heaviest device out of these three.

Looking at storage, Sony Reader Touch has only 512MB of internal storage making this device the one with the smallest capacity. But the fact that it takes Sony Memory Stick PRO Duo™ and SD Card™ up to 16GB could help make this device as big if not bigger in memory storage than the other devices (except Barnes & Nobles’ nook). Barnes & Nobles’ nook haves an internal capacity of 2 Gigs and since it takes a microSD card up to 16 Gigs, this could be the biggest capacity in all the devices here mention. Amazon’s Kindle has a non-expandable 2 Gigs of internal memory.

The battery life in the three devices is 2 weeks without the wireless option turn on. The only difference you will find is in the changing time with Amazon’s Kindle been 4 hours and Barnes & Nobles’ nook been 3.5 hours. I was not able to find information the Sony Reader Touch.

As far as network capability I found that even though Amazon’s Kindle and Barnes & Nobles’ nook both have 3G capabilities only Barnes & Nobles’ nook is Wi-Fi enable.

Another difference I found was in the book formats that the three devices support. Sony Reader Touch is one of the most open devices I found taking EPUB, BBeB, PDF, Text, RTF, Word documents, MP3 and AAC. Amazon’s Kindle Supports AZW, PDF, TXT, Audible, MP3, MOBI and PRC without conversion. HTML DOC, RFT, JPEG, GIF, PNG and BMP would be supported in the Amazon’s Kindle but with conversion. Amazon provides and application you could use to convert this formats to a format that the Amazon’s Kindle can use. Finally, Barnes & Nobles’ nook takes EPUB, PDF, MP3 and PDB. PDB (ereader.com format) is the only format that is not supported by either Amazon’s Kindle or the Sony Reader Touch.

Upon opening the box the Sony Reader Touch contains only the USB cables. Barnes & Nobles’ nook contains MicroUSB 2.0 cable, AC adapter and a rechargeable battery. While Amazon’s Kindle contains a power adapter, USB cable 2.0 and a rechargeable battery.

All devices have a 1 year manufacturer’s warranty with an option to purchase a 2 year at the time of purchase.

I hope this has helped you in the subject. Please comment on this article and let me know.

    WordPress Finally!

I have been told by many of my friends for quite some time now why I keep using Blogger when I have my own domain. I always told them that I was not sure but everything was good so far so I did not see the need to change. This was been kept for years now.

Well last weekend I decided to check it out. I installed WordPress on my server and I have to say I am really impressed. The only thing I said after I was done was “why didn’t I do this sooner”. I can believe all the stuff I can do know that I could not have done with blogger. After I finish setting it all up I’ll try to keep writing.

I am so sorry to all of you that enjoy my poems but I promise I’ll continue to write as soon as I can. I am planning to eventually place all of the poems into a book and publish it as soon as I have enough material.

I really hope you all enjoy the new format and I will look forward to all your emails and comments.

Take care for now and see you soon.
